Aadhaar Card Update: From November 1, three important Aadhaar card rules are set to change, and every Aadhaar holder needs to understand these updates carefully. These changes affect how you update your Aadhaar, what fees you pay, and how your Aadhaar will be linked with financial documents like PAN. As UIDAI continues to upgrade its system, these rules aim to make Aadhaar more accurate, secure and convenient for users.
Rule 1: Online Updates for Name, Address and Mobile Become Easier
Starting November 1, Aadhaar holders can update key demographic details such as name, address, date of birth and mobile number directly through the myAadhaar portal. You no longer need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for most updates.
However, biometric updates like fingerprints, iris or photo will still require a physical visit to an authorised centre.
Rule 2: Aadhaar Update Fee Structure Revised
UIDAI has introduced a new fee structure for Aadhaar updates.
- Online demographic update fee: ₹75
- Biometric update fee (in-centre): ₹125
- Online document uploads: Free till June 14, 2026
Additionally, children aged 5–7 and 15–17 years will receive free biometric updates to keep their Aadhaar records accurate.
Rule 3: Aadhaar–PAN Linking Becomes Mandatory
One of the biggest updates is that Aadhaar must be linked to PAN before the deadline.
If Aadhaar is not linked to PAN by December 31, 2025, your PAN may become inactive from January 1, 2026. This could affect tax filing, bank transactions, KYC processes and many financial services.
New PAN applicants will also be required to authenticate Aadhaar during the registration process.
Why These New Rules Matter
These changes aim to make Aadhaar updating faster and more reliable, reduce queues at centres, and ensure seamless integration with PAN for tax and banking purposes. With online update access becoming easier and fee clarity now in place, Aadhaar management becomes simpler for residents across the country.
What Aadhaar Holders Should Do Immediately
To avoid last-minute issues:
- Ensure your mobile number is active and linked to Aadhaar for OTP verification.
- Update your demographic details online if they are outdated.
- Plan biometric updates early if needed.
- Complete Aadhaar–PAN linking before the final deadline to avoid deactivation.
- Save your Update Request Number (URN) after making any changes.
Conclusion: The three new Aadhaar rules coming into force from November 1 will make the system more convenient and secure. While the changes simplify updates and reduce costs for users, it’s important to meet the new requirements—especially Aadhaar–PAN linking—to avoid disruptions in essential services.
